Remote control with Hauppauge Nova-T USB 2

I have been using DVBViewer now for while and must say I am very pleased!

I even got subtitles working somehow with YLE with little work ;)

 

One minor detail is missing. My hauppauge Nova-T USB 2 remote control won't work.

I would like to have it working.

 

I search through forums to find out how, but did not succeed. If anyone knows how it is possible with current version, please let me and others know.

Or is there anywhere available detailed information how remote control operates? Perhaps I could create my own plugin or something to do the trick... Just need to to know what to do? Does Hauppauge provide that information somewhere? I can not find it.

I managed find answer myself and now want to share it with you.

 

With hauppauge you get installed infrared software ir.exe. You can use that with DVBViewer. Found file "C:\Windows\irremote.ini" and open it with notepad.

 

1) Add single line to [Applications] section. Line should look like this:

2) ind [Default] section and edit it to look like this: (note that you must set PATH environment variable to include your DVBViewer path).

4) Save file and restart ir.exe. Now ir.exe should control DVBViewer remotelly.

Hi there Makinjr, cheers for the details - just a quick question - which remote control do you have? I'm very new to all this and am trying to figure out which button is called what in the ini file. The reason I ask is that I have a 45 button silver remote that came with my nova-t pci, but I'm not sure that this corresponds to your ini file.

 

The notes in the ini file in my system folder don't make a lot of sense to me - I'm trying to decipher them at the moment! Cheers for any help,
